Medallion Communications Limited has unveiled what it described as its 2019 plans, saying the priority is the creation and expansion of Data Centre infrastructure in six cities across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
Touted as Nigeria’s Tele House, Medallion said the aim of the expansion is to help operators localize their content at the states and regional basis to improve the quality of service to subscribers, and to ensure everybody in the ecosystem from the operator to the subscriber is getting good telecom service delivered to them at affordable prices.

According to Nnamani, the expansion project is berthed on the solid foundation the company has laid in 2018, where over 83 local and international service provider are presently hosted on the infrastructure, making it the most connected Data Centre in Nigeria.
The service providers connected to the Medallion’s Data Centre include International gateway/submarine cables, GSM operators, CDMA/LTE operators, Fixed line/fixed wireless, long distance providers, metro fiber providers, ISPs, VAS and other content providers.

He explaining that the essence is to accommodate more service providers in other parts of Nigeria. Thus, taking various content providers like Google and Facebook closer to the end users, which will ultimately, provide high-quality services without buffering.
“We believe that our expansion project will help end user receive quality service from content providers. The content providers on their part would be able to localised their adverts to specify location and make more revenue. So, it is win-win situation for everybody,” Nnamani added.
