Nigeria’s Telecom House, Medallion Communication Limited last week at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos won the ‘Data Center of the year Award’ at the Nigerian NewsDirect 8th Anniversary Award of Excellence.

The organizer of the Award, Nigerian NewsDirect said, Medallion was painstakingly selected for the award after their background check showed that Medallion is the connected Data Centre in Nigeria.

Nigerian NewsDirect disclosed that their check revealed that Medallion has over 83 ICT service providers are connected to its Data Centre. These service providers include all GSM operators,  CDMA operators, Fixed Wireless and Fixed Line operators in Nigeria. Others are all long distance, international fiber network operators, and metro fiber transmission providers in Nigeria.

“Medallion, it has shown is the chosen hosting company of choice for the major local and international companies seeking to do business in Nigeria,” the organizer noted while handing the award to Mr. Ikechukwu Nnamani, Chief Executive Officer of Medallion.

Meanwhile, an elated Nnamani, who sees the award as a boost and encouragement to contribute more in the Nigeria’s quest for development leveraging ICT, argues that the only way Nigeria can experience more of ICT dividends is to expand services to other part of the country.

He disclosed Medallion is already doing expansion with the hope that its Data Centre infrastructure will be launched in Enugu and other parts of Nigeria this year. He said this will not only make services affordable to the end users, but will also create jobs for Nigerians.

“Our plans and efforts are geared towards providing connectivity and content to the last mile and the end users. We believe this will create employment and ensure that subscribers get value for money they spend on telecom services,” he argued.

The Nigerian NewsDirect 8th Anniversary Award of Excellence, had the theme, “Indigenous Participation/Economic Recovery & Growth Plans: Roles of Corporate Governance, Banks Credit, Oil &Infrastructure.
