Nestlé Nigeria has reaffirmed its dedication to youth development by investing over N6 billion in training and empowering young Nigerians since 2011. The company’s Technical Training Center (TTC) in Agbara recently celebrated the graduation of ten young trainees who completed an intensive 18-month engineering program.
The TTC has produced over 190 skilled professionals, with a remarkable 97% employment rate within Nestlé Nigeria. This year alone, 30 young individuals have graduated from the program, which combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience and culminates in a City and Guilds of London Technicians’ Certification.
Nestlé Nigeria’s Managing Director, Wassim Elhusseini, emphasized the company’s commitment to nurturing young talent: “Our investment in these bright minds reflects our belief in the potential of Nigerian youth. By bridging the skills gap, we empower them to achieve financial independence and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Beyond the TTC, Nestlé’s youth empowerment initiatives extend to the Nestlé Needs YOUth platform, which reaches an average of 25,000 young people annually through programs focused on employment, skills development, support, and opportunity creation.
Shakiru Lawal, Country Human Resources Manager, highlighted the company’s role in addressing youth unemployment challenges: “We are proud to offer employment to all graduates of this batch. Their dedication and excellence have earned them a place in the Nestlé family.”
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Adelaja Arigbabu, commended Nestlé for its commitment to youth empowerment and congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
Dignitaries including the Alagbara of Agbara, Oba Lukman Jayeola Agunbiade, and representatives from NECA and MAN attended the graduation ceremony.
