Galaxy Backbone (GBB) Limited has identified trust and data security as the essential pillars of Nigeria’s evolving digital economy. Speaking at the 2026 National Data Privacy Summit, organized by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), GBB leadership emphasized that the nation’s technological progress is inseparable from robust data protection.
During the event, which took place on February 4, 2026, Galaxy Backbone reaffirmed its role as the secure infrastructure backbone for the federation, showcasing its latest advancements in protected cloud and data center services.
Addressing stakeholders, the Managing Director and CEO of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, described trust as the foundational element required for the successful adoption of emerging technologies.
“At Galaxy Backbone, we view trust as our most vital product,” Professor Adeyanju stated. “Every fibre we lay, every data centre we operate, and every cloud service we enable is built on the promise of security, integrity, and confidentiality.”
He noted that as Nigeria increasingly adopts Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data, the risks associated with data handling grow, making “privacy by design” a non-negotiable requirement for all digital solutions.
Professor Adeyanju called for a shift in how technology is deployed, urging developers and government agencies to ensure that ethics guide every innovation. He positioned Galaxy Backbone as a strategic ally to the NDPC, providing the resilient infrastructure necessary to host and protect national data assets.
Galaxy Backbone also commended the NDPC for its leadership in regulating the space, stressing that a robust national data protection ecosystem is the only way to ensure citizens can engage with technology confidently.
The summit concluded with a call to action for all digital stakeholders. GBB urged increased collaboration between the public and private sectors to build a digital Nigeria where data protection is not an afterthought, but a core feature of every service. By strengthening these safeguards, the agency believes Nigeria can fully unlock the potential of its digital future while keeping citizens’ information secure.
