Dr. Vincent Olatunji, head of Nigeria’s Data Protection Commission, has been appointed Chair of the Anglophone Countries Committee within the Network of Africa Data Protection Authorities (NADPA). This appointment, formalized on April 2nd, 2025, positions him to lead efforts in bolstering data privacy and protection across the region.
Dr. Olatunji accepted the role, emphasizing the significance of Nigeria’s leadership in safeguarding the data rights of over 1.4 billion Africans. He called for a collaborative effort among member nations to ensure effective data protection practices.
This appointment coincides with Nigeria’s upcoming hosting of the 2025 NADPA Annual General Meeting and Conference, scheduled for May 6th- 8th, 2025. The conference, themed “Balancing Innovation in Africa: Data Protection and Privacy in Emerging Technologies,” will highlight Nigeria’s progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in developing a robust digital economy.
