The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) is celebrating a significant milestone: over 229,596 .ng domain registrations as of August 2024. This achievement reflects NiRA’s ongoing efforts to make the .ng domain more accessible, affordable, and secure for Nigerians.

The announcement was made by NiRA President, Adesola Akinsanya, at an ICT Growth Conference in Lagos. Mr. Akinsanya, represented by Board Member Peter Oluka, highlighted the importance of collaboration: “This feat was achieved through partnerships with stakeholders across various sectors. We are committed to ensuring every Nigerian, regardless of location, can have a trusted digital identity.”

A Strong Online Presence for All

NiRA emphasizes the crucial role of a digital identity in today’s world. A secure online presence is essential for businesses to grow, governments to deliver efficient services, and individuals to connect to the global economy.

    Combating Cybersecurity Threats

As Nigeria’s digital landscape expands, so do cybersecurity threats. NiRA recognizes this challenge and remains committed to collaborating with industry partners, government agencies, and the media to safeguard Nigeria’s cyberspace.

    Bridging the Digital Divide

NiRA acknowledges the existing digital divide within Nigeria. The organization actively works to bridge this gap through the .NG Academy. This initiative focuses on improving digital literacy and expanding internet access in underserved communities. NiRA believes everyone deserves the opportunity to participate in the digital economy.

NiRA: Building a Trusted Digital Space

As the registry for .ng domain names, NiRA plays a critical role in fostering a trusted and secure online environment for Nigerians. The .ng domain is more than just a national symbol; it’s a key driver of digital transformation in Nigeria.
