The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the registry responsible for managing Nigeria’s country-code Top-Level Domain (.ng), has opened the voting portal for the 2026 .ng Awards, inviting Nigerians to support businesses, institutions and digital initiatives contributing to the country’s internet ecosystem.
The public voting exercise, which runs from October 19 to November 12, 2026, is part of the ninth edition of the annual awards designed to celebrate excellence, innovation and the effective use of the .ng domain in building digital services and businesses.
Members of the public can access the voting portal through the official awards website at https://nira.org.ng/ngawards2026/.
According to Seyi Onasanya, Chief Operating Officer at NIRA, the awards recognise organisations and individuals using the .ng domain to improve online services, promote locally developed content and strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy. “The categories cover a broad range of sectors, including banking, financial technology, electronic payments, e-commerce, education, agriculture, media, government and technology services,” she said.
Among the categories are Company of the Year, Most Innovative Service Provider Online, Best Commercial Banking Website/Portal, Best E-payment Website/Portal, .ng FinTech Company of the Year, Best E-commerce Website/Portal, Startup Company of the Year and Best Local Hosting Company. Other categories recognise digital innovation in state and federal governments, educational institutions, technology hubs and media organisations.
To qualify for the awards, nominees must have a registered .ng domain that has been active for more than 12 months, with an associated website that is live on the internet. The evaluation also considers website currency, the quality of locally produced content, user experience, functionality, relevance and interactivity.
Since the .ng Awards began in 2016, more than 120 organisations and individuals have been recognised for their contributions to the country’s digital ecosystem.
The awards feature two broad categories: General Awards, which involve public nominations and voting, and Presidential Awards, conferred by the President of NiRA, Mr. Adesola Akinsanya to recognise impactful contributions to the .ng domain ecosystem.
Winners will be announced at the 2026 .ng Awards Ceremony in Lagos in November.
NiRA encourages members of the public to visit the official awards portal, review the shortlisted nominees and participate in the voting process to recognise organisations and individuals advancing Nigeria’s digital presence through the .ng domain.
