In a significant nod to excellence in strategic communication, Hajiya Hadiza Umar, Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has been named one of Nigeria’s Top 50 Public Relations and Communications Professionals on the prestigious 2025 PR Power List.

The exclusive list, a collaboration between GLG Communications and The Guardian newspaper, recognizes professionals who are at the forefront of redefining strategic communication both within Nigeria and across the diaspora.

A respected Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Hajiya Umar was specifically celebrated in the “Rising Voices” category. This section spotlights emerging communication leaders known for their creativity, agility, and significant impact in shaping narratives and driving innovation in public engagement.

Reacting to her inclusion, Hajiya Umar expressed profound humility and pride, highlighting how the recognition underscores not only her achievements but also the crucial role communication plays in advancing digital inclusion and national development.

“Being named among the PR Power 50 is a humbling experience and a reminder of the critical role communication plays in national transformation,” she stated. “At NITDA, our goal has always been to use strategic communication as a catalyst for digital literacy, innovation, and inclusion. I dedicate this recognition to my committed team and the visionary leadership of our Director-General, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, who has created an enabling environment for creativity and growth.”

NITDA, operating under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, is a leading force in promoting digital literacy, IT development, and citizen-focused communication strategies designed to bridge Nigeria’s digital divide.
