PalmPay is making significant strides in boosting financial literacy and economic empowerment in Northern Nigeria through its new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, “Passing the Baton.” This strategic program targets 5,000 women-owned businesses in Kano and Kaduna, aiming to bridge the financial inclusion gap in underserved regions.

    Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

“Passing the Baton” is designed to equip women entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge, tools, and visibility needed to thrive. Chika Nwosu, Managing Director of PalmPay, emphasized the company’s belief in far-reaching financial inclusion that extends to the grassroots. “Our new CSR program is focused on supporting gender equity by equipping women with the knowledge, tools, and visibility they need to thrive as entrepreneurs in their communities,” said Nwosu.

    Comprehensive Support for Businesses

Beyond financial literacy training, beneficiaries of the initiative will receive a comprehensive package of support. This includes:

    • Free health insurance
    • Hands-on training workshops
    • Enhanced store branding to boost visibility
    • Branded merchandise to strengthen business presence

This holistic approach underscores PalmPay’s commitment to providing practical resources that directly impact the success of these micro-businesses.

    Strategic Growth and Local Partnerships

This initiative is a key part of PalmPay’s broader strategy to expand its innovative solutions and footprint across Northern Nigeria. The company is actively building sustainable partnerships with local stakeholders to ensure long-term impact. The program has garnered significant support, including an endorsement from His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, who urged other stakeholders to collaborate with PalmPay to leverage the growing digital economy in the North fully.

“Passing the Baton” is already being hailed by community stakeholders as a model for similar projects in other northern states. As PalmPay continues to scale its operations nationwide, it remains committed to closing the financial inclusion gap and empowering underserved groups, particularly women and young people, through its innovative solutions and impactful initiatives.
