PalmPay, a leading neobank in Africa, reaffirmed its dedication to building a trusted financial ecosystem at GITEX 2025, the continent’s premier technology summit in Lagos.

On day two of the event, Chibuzor Melah, Vice President of Partnerships at PalmPay, joined a panel discussion titled “From Idea to Infrastructure – The African Tech Executive & Founders’ Playbook.” The session focused on how bold ideas are transforming into scalable systems across Africa’s growing digital economy.

Melah highlighted the key challenges facing financial inclusion in Africa, such as a heavy reliance on cash and low financial literacy, emphasizing that overcoming these obstacles requires more than just innovation. It means adapting technology to local realities, developing local talent and always prioritizing the customer.

“As a financial company, our greatest responsibility is to earn trust. Security and compliance must come first because customers deserve to feel protected. Beyond that, we have to make financial tools simple and truly accessible for every Nigerian, no matter their background,” Melah stated.

He explained that PalmPay’s journey is built on three pillars:

    • Hero products: Launching a product that provides immediate value and builds trust before expanding services.
    • Local partnerships: Creating strong local collaborations to ensure solutions meet real community needs.
    • Agility: Maintaining quick, decentralized decision-making to adapt to Africa’s diverse markets.

Melah concluded by urging African innovators to remain agile, customize their solutions for specific market conditions, and never lose sight of the customer experience. PalmPay’s participation in GITEX 2025 underscores its commitment to using technology and local insights to build trust and empower millions of Africans.
