Rack Centre, West Africa’s leading Tier III carrier and cloud-neutral data centre, has launched its new 12MW IT Load LGS2 data centre, hailed as a “best-in-class” facility set to transform Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.

At the commissioning ceremony in Lagos on Thursday, Rack Centre Chairman Maher Jarmakani emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation, reliability, and security. The LGS2 facility, he stated, provides premium, energy-efficient, and scalable solutions for enterprises, cloud providers, and financial institutions, solidifying Rack Centre’s role in powering Nigeria’s digital future.

“Rack Centre is uniquely positioned on Lagos Mainland, providing vital connectivity to critical government apparatus in Alausa,” Jarmakani highlighted. Our infrastructure ensures swift and secure data movement, thereby enhancing our role as a digital switch platform that connects people, businesses, and ideas.

Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Chief of Staff Sam Egube described the LGS2 launch as a “pivotal moment” in Nigeria’s digital economy. He commended Rack Centre’s focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, noting the facility’s potential to attract global investors to Lagos as a hub of innovation and digital transformation. “Rack Centre is a trailblazer in the tech and data infrastructure space, and this facility represents a significant leap towards making Lagos a smart, globally competitive digital hub,” Egube said.

Rack Centre CEO Lars Johannisson expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for its support, emphasizing that the LGS2 facility meets the highest international standards and signifies a new chapter in Nigeria’s digital transformation, driven by technological advancement, sustainable digitization, and AI.

“From a pioneering venture 12 years ago, Rack Centre has become a cornerstone of West Africa’s digital ecosystem,” Johannisson stated. The LGS2 launch increases the company’s data centre capacity eight-fold, consolidating its leadership as the premier digital infrastructure hub in sub-Saharan Africa.
