The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has assured that the sales of 9mobile will be over within 30-40 days, even as it warned the general public to desist from relying on unconfirmed reports.

Mr. Sunday Dare, Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management at NCC, who gave the assurance yesterday on the sideline of a forum on cost based study for the determination of mobile voice termination rate in Lagos, also disclosed that the speculations have had a downturn effect on the brand, losing over 4million subscribers in the last few months.

“The controversy and unconfirmed reports have made 9mobile subscribers to drop from 21million to 17 million in the last few months, but I will advise us to wait for another 30-40 days and we will have clarity on the sales process,” he said.

According to him, the sales of 9mobile is a process, which involved several parties such as the Nigerian Communications Commission, the Central Bank of Nigeria, Capital Investors, 9mobile Interim board and the Barclay Africa.

Dare, also assured that the both the NCC and the CBN are working together to make sure 9mobile doesn’t sink, adding its intervention has saved 4,000 jobs and have saved 9mobile from crashing.

The sales of 9mobile has become of raging issues in the telecom industry. It was reported last week that the interim board of 9mobile finally settled for Teleology Holdings Limited as the preferred bidder for 9mobile.
