In a significant stride towards empowering women in technology, TD Africa officially launched the TecHERdemy program on November 13, 2024. This initiative aims to equip 400 young Nigerian women with essential digital skills to excel in today’s technology-driven world.

The launch event, held at the Yudala Height Building and co-sponsored by global tech giants Huawei, Microsoft, and Cisco, brought together a select group of participants who had successfully completed rigorous online assessments.

Mrs. Chioma Ekeh, CEO of TD Africa, expressed her enthusiasm for the program, emphasizing its alignment with the company’s mission of “Empowering You.” “TecHERdemy is more than just a training program; it’s a platform to launch a brighter future for each participant. We encourage them to seize this opportunity to not only transform their own lives but also empower their communities,” she remarked.

Gary Li, Channel Director at Huawei, underscored the company’s commitment to partnering with TD Africa to make TecHERdemy a success. “Huawei is proud to be part of this initiative, which reflects our dedication to innovation and equality in the tech sector. We are committed to supporting each participant’s journey and ensuring they acquire industry-relevant skills to meet global standards,” he said.

Over the next six months, participants will delve into core courses such as Cybersecurity, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Development. These courses will be delivered by industry experts, providing hands-on, practical learning that aligns with international best practices.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive certificates and have access to job placement opportunities, validating their newfound skills and expanding their career prospects in the burgeoning tech sector.

By launching TecHERdemy, TD Africa reaffirms its commitment to bridging the gender gap in the tech industry and fostering a more inclusive and equitable landscape. By investing in the next generation of female tech leaders, TD Africa and its partners are contributing to a more empowered and digitally savvy Nigeria, paving the way for a brighter future for women in technology.
