TD Africa, the continent’s premier technology distributor, has officially announced its role as the Headline Sponsor for the Design Thinking Challenge (DTC) at the upcoming Enugu Tech Fest 2026. This partnership marks a significant investment in the next generation of Nigerian innovators, focusing on practical solutions for the country’s most pressing challenges.

TD Africa has committed over ₦35 million to the Challenge to specifically target three pillars of national development. One primary focus is the energy sector, which seeks solutions for sustainable and reliable power. The second pillar is healthcare, where the funding supports innovations to improve medical access and patient outcomes. Finally, the commitment extends to agriculture by prioritizing technologies that enhance food security and farming efficiency.

The sponsorship includes a substantial seed grant pool, with funding distributed equally among winning teams in these three sectors. This financial backing is designed to move ideas from the conceptual stage into tangible, market-ready prototypes.

TD Africa is providing participants with access to its vast ecosystem because it recognizes that capital alone is not enough to sustain innovation. Innovators will receive structured mentorship through guidance from the technical and business leadership teams at TD Africa. The program also offers industry validation by providing professional evaluations to help participants sharpen their execution and business models. Additionally, participants will gain market access through networking opportunities within one of the largest technology distribution channels in Africa.

Jessica Owonam, Business Development Manager at TD Africa, emphasized that the company’s involvement is rooted in sustainability. “We believe innovation is most meaningful when it is practical and inclusive,” she stated. “By prioritizing Energy, Healthcare, and Agriculture, we are investing in solutions that improve lives and strengthen communities.”

Barr. Victor Ogbonna, Programme Coordinator of the DTC, hailed the partnership as a major boost. He noted that TD Africa’s involvement brings more than just money—it brings “industry insight and practical expertise” that can drastically accelerate early-stage startups.

As Enugu Tech Fest 2026 approaches, this collaboration underscores a growing trend of corporate-led innovation in Nigeria. By supporting the Design Thinking Challenge, TD Africa reinforces its mission to build Africa’s digital future through disciplined investment in people and ideas that solve real-world problems.
