    Unijos to partner NCC on research & development

    The University of Jos in North Central Nigeria is seeking a partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on research and development.

    The partnership when finally sealed would ultimately come up with innovative technologies that will help the advancement of humanity and help curb cybercrimes and, train youths in ICT so that they could be self- dependent.

    The educational institution mulled the idea when a delegation comprising six top Management of the University and led by by Professor Theresa Nmadu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, paid a courtesy call to the Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta.

    According to Professor Theresa Nmadu, the visit is premised on establishing a relationship with the Commission and aimed at identifying areas of collaboration with the Commission, particularly in the area of Big Data Analytics, ICT, IoT, and Cyber Security.

    “We are ready to partner with the Research and Development Department of the Commission to come up with innovative technologies that will help the advancement of humanity and help curb cybercrimes and, train youths in ICT so that they could be self- dependent,” She emphasised.

    Nmadu also noted that in addition to identifying areas of collaboration and workability, she is happy to inform the EVC/ CEO NCC of his nomination for Honourary PHD Award scheduled to hold on Saturday June, 23, 2018 at the University of Jos. She noted that a letter was forwarded earlier in the month and that this reminder should not come as a surprise.

    Reacting, the Executive Vice Chairman/ CEO, NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta expressed appreciation to the delegation’s visit and finding NCC worthy of Award, stating that any award to him is an award to the Commission.

    Professor Danbatta, stated that the Commission is committed to fulfilling its mandate and doing whatever it is that will advance the telecoms industry, the society, and support innovative technologies that will help youths become gainfully employed, improve government sources of revenue through diversification in ICT in line with the Economic Growth and Recovery Plan of the Federal Government.
