Verve, Africa’s largest homegrown payment card brand, has officially surpassed the 100 million cards milestone, emphatically highlighting its leadership in driving secure, seamless, and accessible digital payment solutions across the continent.

The landmark achievement was announced by Vincent Ogbunude, Managing Director, Verve International, at a recent media launch event.

“One hundred million cards is more than a statistic. It represents the confidence of our customers, the commitment of our partners, and the trust of millions of Africans,” Ogbunude stated. “Every transaction tells a story: Traders receiving payments quickly, students paying fees seamlessly, shoppers transacting securely, and entrepreneurs powering their businesses.”

Reflecting on the journey, Ogbunude highlighted Verve’s evolution from its launch over 15 years ago as Africa’s first domestic card scheme to its current status as a trusted pan-African payments brand.

Verve’s growth has been fueled by innovation and a deep understanding of consumer needs. Today, the card is accepted in multiple countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin Republic, The Gambia, and Senegal.

The 100 million card milestone also served as a platform to announce Verve’s latest strategic partnerships, aimed at enhancing both lifestyle and professional experiences for cardholders:

    • Adobe: A collaboration to provide Verve cardholders access to the full suite of Adobe creative tools (including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro) at competitive rates. This partnership enables simplified payments and actively supports Africa’s growing creator economy.
    • Glovo: A new partnership with one of Africa’s fastest-growing on-demand delivery platforms, offering users discounts, rewards, and a smoother checkout experience, reinforcing Verve’s commitment to convenience and everyday lifestyle solutions.

Ogbunude emphasized that the 100 million card milestone is not a finish line but a renewed mandate to expand Verve’s footprint and deepen its impact across Africa. Central to this growth is Verve’s strategic approach to partnerships, ensuring relevance and alignment with users’ evolving lifestyles.

As Verve steps into its next phase, the brand remains committed to deepening financial inclusion, expanding its acceptance footprint, and powering everyday transactions with the security and reliability millions of Africans trust. Through continued investment in innovation and strategic, user-first experiences, Verve is poised to shape the future of payments across Africa.
