The newly appointed Minister of Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Olatunbosun Tijani has assured that among his priorities as Minister would be to leverage the smart application of technology to run the Nigerian economy.

In his immediate reaction on Twitter to the announcement as Minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian-British entrepreneur, co-founder and CEO of Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB), a Pan-African innovation and technology centre, said this will be done by working with all stakeholders to raise the level of productivity across the economy.

“I look forward to working with all stakeholders to raise the level of productivity across our economy through the smart application of technology. It’s an exciting time to build a bigger and better future for all Nigerians. Grateful to the President @officialABAT for the opportunity to join his team working to deliver a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria,” he said via his official Twitter handle @bosuntijani.

ITPulse had reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced Olatunbosun Tijani as the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and will be in charge of the country’s Information and Communications Technology for the next four years.

Tijani is coming to take over the industry from where the former Minister, Prof. Isa Pantami, who was in charge during former President, Muhammeddu Buhari’s tenure.

Round peg in a round hole

Meanwhile, Twitter faithful have reacted to his post describing him as one of the Round pegs in a round hole in the ministerial list announced by the President. Some have also set agenda for him.

@EmmanuelJasper Round peg in a round hole. Dunno about the others.

@Abdulfatah_B You are one of the round pegs in round holes I have faith in. Best wishes.

@OladayoMARTINS I’m confident that you’ll succeed given your experience and antecedents. Please be transparent and ensure to do things differently.

@KatorTarkaa Your track record gives me faith in your capabilities, but let’s remember that beyond technology, Nigeria needs transparency, accessibility & consistency. True progress lies in blending innovation with core values. The stakes are high & many of us hope to see tangible changes under your leadership.

@jamesagada Truly exciting. Please do let us know what KPI , the president has given you.

@TaxDoctorNG Bros, there is only one thing I need from you. Unify our identity management. Upgrade our NIN to the status of SSN/SIN and see the economy explode.

@Klef_D Bro, I like this suggestion so much! I hope the new minister pay attention to this. Even if this is his only achievement, then he is golden. Upgrading the NIN to the status of SSN/SIN would be transformative for Nigeria. It’s more than just an ID; it’s a gateway to financial inclusion. With a unified identity management system, millions of Nigerians without bank accounts can gain access to formal financial services. This means easier access to loans, savings, and insurance, which can propel economic growth. It’s a significant step towards addressing the financial inclusion challenge and unleashing Nigeria’s economic potential. Kaduna State Government.

@lexyy4real Kindly set up a system where we can track the progress in your ministry anywhere we are in the world on a weekly/monthly basis…The communication gap between the government and its citizens is too wide..God bless you.

@kamakarzy247 All the very best…… Communication is key to any Nation’s growth….. From your bank of knowledge, move the country far from where it is.

@AderonkeOkeleye You better come through. Our expectations are high especially.

@Kolaqhazim  Almost all 774 local governments should have a digital center.

@ToksOdunsi Congratulations Sir. Please we want Data-Centers and Server-Farms in Nigeria to host Nigerian websites and content locally. The cost of hosting has gone up due to FX floating.
