The founding President of IPv6 Forum, Prof. Latif Ladid has adduced reasons why the council decided to induct Mr. Muhammed Rudman, Chairman of IPv6 Council Nigeria into the Internet Protocol version Six (IPv6) Hall of Fame.

“The new Internet IPv6 Hall of Fame is pleased and honored to welcome Mr. Muhammed Rudman, Chairman of IPv6 Council Nigeria to this distinguished list of inductees selected for the year 2022,” said Prof. Latif Ladid in a letter of nomination issued in Luxembourg, Europe.

According to him, the induction will prompt some groups of experts such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Open Networking Foundation (ONF), Linux Foundation, United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF), and obviously, the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other corporate enterprises to dig out Mr. Rudman’s works, speeches, papers and learn from him.

“You have made a genuinely valuable contribution to the Internet to take it to the next level to flourish in the service of mankind as the one and only true vehicle to empower people and progress our world to a far better and richer place,” ITRealms quoted Prof. Latif Ladid to have said of Rudman, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN) and doubled as the current President, Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), the managers of .NG country code domain.

Prof. Latif Ladid added that the prime purpose of this initiative is to widely publish the faces of the IPv6 Experts and Evangelists as we have found out that the prime IPv6 contributors are not really known among even those that should know.

The main objective of IPv6 Forum is to promote deployment and coordinated uptake of the new Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) with support from industry, education, research communities and government agencies enabling equitable access to technology and knowledge.

He recalled that the Internet world has been using the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) for the last three decades. Despite the tremendous success, IPv4 has shown signs of strain, especially in its depleted IP address space and growing security concerns. Stressing that IPv6 preserves everything good in today’s Internet, and adds much more, such as virtually unlimited IP address space to connect everyone and everything, stateless auto-configuration, seamless mobility, automated network management, end-to-end security and new optional service levels.
