Interswitch, Africa’s integrated payments giant, has officially crowned the champions of its Technovation 4.0 Hackathon, distributing a massive ₦10 million in cash prizes to employees who turned bold ideas into scalable digital solutions.

The Grand Finale, held on March 4, 2026, at the Interswitch Innovation Lab, served as the climax of “The Wicked Hackathon.” The event followed nine months of intense cross-functional collaboration, where teams moved from raw concepts to market-ready Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).

Following a day of high-stakes pitching and live demonstrations, three teams emerged at the top of the leaderboard. Team Quickteller Fashion took first place and secured a prize of ₦4,000,000. Team Kampe finished in second place with a prize of ₦2,500,000. Team Stable claimed third place and received ₦1,500,000.

In a move to reward excellence across the board, an additional ₦2,000,000 was shared among the 4th to 9th place finishers, ensuring every finalist walked away with recognition for their ingenuity.

Launched in 2022, Technovation has evolved into Interswitch’s flagship internal engine for innovation. It encourages “intrapreneurship”—allowing staff to tackle complex industry hurdles from within the company’s ecosystem.

Adaobi Okerekeocha, Chief Innovation Officer at Interswitch, noted that the program is a reflection of the company’s DNA. “Technovation continues to reflect who we are as an organization: bold, forward-thinking, and deeply committed to building impactful solutions from within. The passion demonstrated this year reinforces our belief in the power of African innovation to shape the continent’s future.”

While many of the winning solutions remain confidential for strategic reasons, the diverse range of projects—spanning digital commerce and payment efficiencies—underscores Interswitch’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve.

By investing in its internal talent, Interswitch isn’t just hosting a competition; it is building a structured pipeline that transforms experimental ideas into tangible business outcomes for Africa’s digital economy.
