The Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), last night in Abuja assured the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami that the association will work closely with him towards implementing the Digital Economy agenda.

The President of ATCON, Engr. Olusola Teniola, gave the assurance at a special and high-powered special reception for the Minister.

Part of the move to implement the agenda, according to Teniola is to give complete industry support to the minister’s passion and dreams for a digital economy.

Thus, in 2020, ATCON would be organising a National Dialogue on Telecom and ICT in Nigeria, whose essence is to foster the implementation of  Digital Economy in Nigeria, promising that the information on the proposed event would be shared with all concerned later.

“ATCON pledges to work with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy in order to understand how we can shape, mold and create an industry that attracts further huge investments and environment where innovation creates an eco-system where both the smaller and larger operators can co-exist to create positive shareholder’s value and deliver a consumer experience that exceeds expectations,” he promised.

He added that collaboration remains a critical factor in the success equation of the telecom industry.

The strategic objectives of the special reception for the Minister, according to ATCON, is to formally present and introduce the Honourable Minister of Communications & Digital Economy to the captains of the industry, to give the industry the opportunity to meet with him and share where the industry is currently and where they expect the industry to be after his tenure (agenda-setting for the industry and to offer the Honourable Minister the opportunity to share his developmental plans for the industry with the relevant stakeholders.
