Social media giant, Facebook has introduced an accelerator programme tagged Commerce, which will empower entrepreneurs and startups to solve relevant, meaningful problems and build products that billions of people can use and benefit from.

The programme, which opened the application for the cohort of innovators until August 31st, 2020 will help connect, train and grow entrepreneurs, especially in the critical period of Coovid-19 to enable every business to sell online by doubling down on commerce.

“We’re always looking for ways to provide even more value for startups through our programs, and that’s why we are excited to announce the launch of Facebook Accelerator: Commerce,” it announced in a blog post.

Up to 30 startups will be selected to participate in a virtual 12-week program in which they will receive 1:1 mentorship from Facebook employees, training on Facebook’s approach to products and businesses, and access to a global network of startup peers, successful founders, and industry experts.

The Facebook Accelerator: Commerce program is designed for startups in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, building on commerce platforms, innovating solutions around catalog functionality, and enhancing the overall commerce experience through conversational tools and immersive shopping experiences.

Over the past several years, Facebook Accelerator programs have run in various countries, helping startups scale effectively through immersive and locally-tailored training. The program provides 1:1 mentorship from Facebook employees, training on Facebook’s approach to products and businesses, and access to a global network of startup peers, successful founders, and industry experts. This year, we are excited to announce the launch of two new Accelerator programs – Facebook Accelerator: Connectivity & Facebook Accelerator: Commerce. These 12-week programs will take on a new format and will be completely virtual sprints with a focus on product themes and exploration of collaborative partnerships to provide even more value for startups.
