    Breaking: Ikechukwu Nnamani elected new President of ATCON

    The Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), has today elected the Chief Executive Officer of Medallion Communications Limited, Engr. Ikechukwu Nnmani as its new President.

    Engr. Nnamani, who was elected at the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) & National Executive Council Elections 2020, held at the Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel in Lagos, will take over from Engr. Olusola Teniola, who has served two tenures as the Presdient of ATCON.

    Speaking on his agenda for the association and the telecom industry after the electoral committee had declared him President-elect, Engr. Nnamani said he will focus the association’s advocacy towards the deployment of infrastructure across the country that wil ultimately, lead to ubiquitous services for Nigerians.

    “I appreciate all members of ATCON for seeing me worthy and voted for me as their President,” he said while making his acceptance speech.

    While hailing the previous executive of which he was the First Vice President for a job well-done, Engr. Nnamani promised to leverage on the foundation already laid by past executive and build on the success story the indystry has recorded, where telecom is said to be contributing 14.30 percent to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as of the second quarter of 2020, translating to N2.272 trillion in financial value.

    He added that ATCON as an umbrella body of all telecom companies in Nigeria will work with the telecom regulator to increase telecoms investment, which presently stood $70 billion, according to several reports.

    With a core vision of bridging the digital divide between nations, Engr. Nnamani integrates technologies for practical solutions. He is very active in promoting forward looking industry policies for the growth of the telecom industry across Africa working with both regulators as well as operators to achieve this goal.

    Working as the First Vice President of the Association, Engr. Nnamani has contributed greatly to the growth of the telecom industry and has acquired the knowledge and experience in the inner working of the telecom industry.

    Engr. Nnamani holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee State University, Nashville, USA.
