The Director-General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mal. Kashifu Inuwa has reiterated federal government commitment to National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS).

Mal. Inuwa, who reiterated the government commitment while delivering the welcome address at the Anambra Innovation Stakeholders Summit (AISS 2021) with the theme: “Incubating a Digital Revolution”, noted that the NDEPS will transform every aspect of modern life, which will enable Nigeria to take advantage and become a leading player in the global digital economy.

He also argued at the summit. which was organised by Anambra State Information and Communication Technology Agency (ANSICTA)that the NDEPS will provide a catalyst to facilitate the diversification of the economy and the attainment of the key national objectives of improving security, reducing corruption and expanding the economy.

“The pillars contained in the NDEPS are designed to catalyse the deliberate development of the digital ecosystem in Nigeria and to deepen the quality of indigenous innovation to solve problems in Nigeria and analogous markets worldwide. The policy has produced focused plans and programs being implemented through various agencies of the Federal Government. These programs include incentives for local development of technology and innovation centers to accelerate the growth of indigenous innovation and skills,” said Inuwa, who was represented by the Director IT Infrastructure Solutions, Dr. Usman Abdullahi Gambo.

The Federal Government had in 2019, launched the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) as a sustainable roadmap to accelerate the development of the Digital Economy in Nigeria. The policy is premised on 8 pillars, namely: Developmental Regulation; Digital Literacy & Skills; Solid Infrastructure; Service Infrastructure; Digital Services Development & Promotion; Soft Infrastructure; Digital Society & Emerging Technology; and Indigenous Content Promotion & Adoption.
