The Nigerian government has unveiled plans that will make Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) a revenue spinner for the country.

The plan, according to Dr. Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, who oversees the government agency, is to unbundle the postal service and spring up several businesses from it.

The businesses will include property and development, logistics, courier and micro finances that will leverage the company more than 2,000 properties owned by the agency across the country.

“All assets of NIPOST scattered all over the country would be fully utilised to maximise revenue generation for the emerging business enterprises,” Dr. Pantami told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an exclusive interview.

He disclosed that the plan is 90 percent ready and will be implemented soon, stressing that the unbundling would lead to increased employment and revenue generation for the government.
