Chowdeck, a leading on-demand delivery platform in Africa, has successfully raised $9 million in Series A funding. This investment will fuel the company’s expansion into more cities across Nigeria and Ghana and support the launch of a new quick commerce strategy.

The funding, led by Novastar Ventures and with participation from other key investors like Y Combinator and AAIC Investment, will be used to enhance delivery speed and reliability for food, groceries, and medicine. The new quick commerce strategy will utilize dark stores and a hyperlocal logistics model to further improve delivery times and coverage.

This expansion builds on Chowdeck’s impressive growth since its launch in October 2021. With over 1.5 million customers and 20,000 riders across 11 cities, the company has established itself as a key technology partner for food and hospitality businesses. Its logistics network boasts an average delivery time of just 30 minutes.

Femi Aluko, CEO and co-founder of Chowdeck, expressed excitement about the company’s future. He stated that the funding “brings us closer to our vision of becoming Africa’s number one super app, transforming how millions of Africans access food, groceries and essentials every day.”

Brian Waswani Odhiambo, a partner at Novastar Ventures, praised Chowdeck’s approach, noting that the company is “building the future of logistics for African cities by creating a platform that benefits consumers, vendors and riders alike.” He highlighted Chowdeck’s deep local insight and impressive execution as key reasons for the investment.

This funding round positions Chowdeck to continue its rapid growth and further solidify its role in Africa’s burgeoning digital economy.
