An online auto vendor and managing director of Carmudi Nigeria, Ms. Amy Muoneke has urged Africans to get prepare and embrace electric vehicles in order to create a more sustainable future for the next generation. Referring to a recent environmental study that shows 50% of global emissions of organic carbon could come from Africa in 2030, Muoneke said Africa dependence on petrol, fuel and coal for a continent may end up contributing 50% of organic carbon in the atmosphere. She added that Africa needs to put plans in place to reduce the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere and one way is to introduce the use of alternative energy. Africa has no choice than to embrace eco-friendly vehicles some of which are listed on the Carmudi website. The eco-friendly vehicles which are listed on Carmudi are mostly hybrid, and almost all of these hybrid vehicle listings are based in Asia, that’s more than 90% of them,” she said. Presently, 173.6 million Nigerians rely on carbon based fuel such as petrol and diesel to generated power. This may contribute close to half of the total emission of organic carbon in Africa. Thus, experts are saying Africa needs to look into alternative means for power generation, one of which is the use of electric powered vehicle, which is projected to reach a staggering $271.67 billion by 2019, on sales of 64.4 million units globally. With these figures, Carmudi examines the future of Tesla Motors and the growth of demand for electric vehicles worldwide. According to Carmudi, the future looks bright for Tesla, and for other electric car manufacturers. Emerging markets will provide a massive opportunity for the brand. A growing middle class, coupled with the abundance of millennials, means more sustainability-conscious motorists who are willing and able to switch from owning gas-guzzlers to luxury electric-powered vehicles such as Tesla’s Model S. Tesla is certain that electric cars will shape the future of the auto industry. The company plans $1.5 billion in capital spending this year, mainly to launch the Model X, a battery powered, eco-friendly sports vehicle with batmobile-like doors. Tesla is still in startup mode and some of the $47 million was invested into the future of the company. Carmudi was founded in 2013 and is currently available in Bangladesh, Cameroon, Congo, Ghana, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Zambia. The vehicle marketplace offers buyers, sellers and car dealers the ideal platform to find cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles online.
