Samsung Electronics West Africa has officially unveiled its latest foldable lineup for the Nigerian market, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the high-performance Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

Built on seven generations of foldable innovation, the new series expands Samsung’s foldable ecosystem with enhanced display technology, optimized AI features, and lighter, slimmer form factors.

Notably, while the Galaxy Flip8 was released globally as part of the lineup, Samsung confirmed it will not be available in Nigeria.

Designed for everyday immersion and content consumption, the Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a fresh, lightweight design. Weighing just 201 grams, it stands as Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold model to date.

The Fold8 features redesigned aspect ratios tailored to natural usage habits. Its Cover Screen is a 5.5-inch 10:16 display designed for quick interactions like messaging and social updates. Meanwhile, the Main Display is an expansive 7.6-inch 4:3 Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen optimized for gaming, reading, and watching videos.

Under the hood, the Fold8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy paired with a 4,800 mAh battery. Its camera setup includes dual 50 MP wide and ultra-wide rear sensors, supported by creative video features like Dual Recording and My FanCam.

Bringing Samsung’s “Ultra” standard to foldables for the first time, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra targets power users and content creators. Measuring 4.1 mm when unfolded and weighing 215 grams, it is the slimmest Z Fold design to date.

Key performance features include a versatile workspace and display, consisting of an 8.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen paired with a 6.5-inch cover display that offers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The device also boasts a pro-grade camera system featuring a 200 MP main sensor with improved HDR, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom, and support for 8K video recording using the APV codec. Additionally, its power and thermal management are driven by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a larger 5,000 mAh dual battery, 45W wired fast charging, and an expanded graphite cooling structure.

Both models feature Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology, a titanium-alloy display structure engineered to increase durability, reduce screen crease visibility, and improve hinge mechanics.

The new Galaxy Z series integrates Galaxy AI optimized specifically for dual-screen and large-format multitasking. Gemini Intelligence enables complex app automation across more than 40 supported services, drag-and-drop workflows in Split View, and idea management through Gemini Notebook. Proactive tools include Now Brief for personalized daily insights and Now Nudge for contextual task suggestions during chats. Furthermore, multi-layered security powered by Samsung Knox is enhanced in One UI 9, introducing an AI Assistant Activity dashboard to track automated actions, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), and proactive Privacy Alerts.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra open today in Nigeria.

    • Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will be available in Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, and an online-exclusive Green Shadow.
    • Galaxy Z Fold8 will come in Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and an online-exclusive Pistachio.

Samsung is bundling all purchases with a 6-month free trial of Google AI Pro (including 5 TB of monthly cloud storage). Additionally, switching to Galaxy is simplified via updated Smart Switch features, allowing wireless iOS transfers via QR code, and Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop. Customers purchasing on Samsung.com can also receive three months of free coverage upon enrolling in a monthly Samsung Care+ plan.
