MTN Nigeria has passed the 100-million active subscriber mark, becoming the first mobile network in the country to reach the milestone.
Figures released by the Nigerian Communications Commission show the company ended July 2026 with 100.86 million subscribers. That is up from 98.64 million at the end of June, an increase of more than 2.2 million users in a single month.
The jump ranks as MTN’s strongest monthly growth so far this year and its biggest one-month gain since November 2024. The company now sits clearly ahead of its rivals in Nigeria’s telecom market.
Industry watchers say the numbers reflect both the size of Nigeria’s mobile market and MTN’s continued ability to add customers even as competition remains intense. Active subscriptions continue to climb as operators expand data services, digital products and coverage.
The 100-million threshold is a first for any operator in Nigeria and underlines MTN’s long-standing position as the market leader.
