Konga, a member of the Zinox Group, has partnered with the Defence Headquarters to launch a technology-enabled Defence Discount Scheme (DDS) aimed at improving access to essential goods and services for serving and retired Nigerian Armed Forces personnel and their families.
The scheme, which goes live on October 1, 2026, will give eligible military personnel access to discounted products across Konga’s online platform, covering fast-moving consumer goods, smartphones, computers, home and kitchen appliances, automobiles, renewable energy products, food and beverages, among other categories.
The partnership was unveiled in Abuja at an event attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; and Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, alongside other senior military officers.
Konga and Zinox Group were represented by Onochie Eche-Chukwuma, Vice President, Commercial Planning at Konga; Kingsley Asonye, Head, Enterprise Solutions at Zinox Technologies; and Reginald Obiakor, General Manager, Business Development at Zinox Technologies, who represented Zinox Group Chairman, Leo Stan Ekeh.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who was Special Guest of Honour, described the initiative as a practical contribution to the Federal Government’s military welfare efforts.
Akume said the scheme demonstrated how technology and strategic partnerships could be used to deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians who have dedicated themselves to national security.
He also commended Zinox Group for its contribution to Nigeria’s technology ecosystem and digital economy.
Under the DDS, military personnel will be able to purchase products through Konga at preferential prices after their eligibility has been authenticated through an integration between the e-commerce platform and the Defence Headquarters.
A live demonstration at the launch showed how eligible personnel would access the platform, authenticate their identities and use the available discounts.
Representing Leo Stan Ekeh, Obiakor said Zinox Group was proud to support an initiative focused on the welfare of members of the Armed Forces.
He said the partnership reflected the group’s commitment to deploying technology and strategic partnerships to address practical needs and improve lives.
The initiative builds on Konga’s broader e-commerce infrastructure and Zinox Group’s long-standing involvement in Nigeria’s technology sector.
Since its acquisition by Zinox Group in 2018, Konga has expanded from an online marketplace into an omnichannel platform combining digital retail with physical operations, payment services and logistics.
Zinox has also implemented technology-focused initiatives, including Computerise Nigeria, which sought to improve access to affordable computers for students, teachers, civil servants and small business owners through partnerships with governments, educational institutions and private organisations.
With the Defence Discount Scheme, Konga and Zinox are extending that technology-driven approach to military welfare, using e-commerce and digital verification to give eligible Armed Forces personnel easier access to essential goods at discounted prices.
