Moniepoint Microfinance Bank has enabled customers to check their eligibility for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) and receive the funds through its USSD banking channel.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is designed to provide direct financial assistance to vulnerable Nigerian households to help them meet essential needs and cushion the impact of prevailing economic pressures.

As one of the financial institutions selected by the Federal Government to facilitate the disbursement, Moniepoint is leveraging its digital banking infrastructure to simplify access to the intervention.

Customers can check their eligibility by dialling *5573*27# from their registered phone numbers and selecting the option to verify their status. Those confirmed as beneficiaries will receive instructions on how to accept the support and have the ₦50,000 credited to their Moniepoint accounts at no cost.

Beneficiary selection is determined by the Federal Government’s eligibility criteria and verification procedures, which rely on verified national identity records and the National Social Register to identify vulnerable households.

However, as the programme is being rolled out in phases across the country, eligibility confirmation and disbursement may not happen simultaneously for all applicants. Access to the funds remains subject to government verification and selection.

Commenting on the development, Babatunde Olofin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, said the bank was pleased to support the government’s effort to provide financial relief to vulnerable Nigerians.

“We are pleased to enable our eligible customers to receive this relief support from the Federal Government’s NERSI initiative. At Moniepoint, we recognise its importance and are happy to contribute our technology and infrastructure to make the process seamless and secure in line with our avowed commitment to creating financial happiness for every Nigerian,” he said.

Olofin urged customers to remain vigilant and use only the bank’s official USSD channel to check their eligibility and access the funds.

He stressed that the process attracts no additional charges, requires no extra documentation and does not involve third-party agents.

Customers seeking clarification can contact Moniepoint’s customer service team or the official NERSI helpdesk on 0700 022 2222.

Moniepoint has increasingly positioned its financial infrastructure as a delivery channel for large-scale government intervention programmes, working with public institutions to improve transparency, security and last-mile access to financial services.

Its previous engagements include facilitating subsidised food distribution to more than 800,000 beneficiaries, supporting revenue collection for national fertiliser programmes and disbursing ₦3 billion in direct empowerment funds to 2,400 vulnerable citizens under an Ultra-Poor Graduation Programme.

The bank has also collaborated with institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Kaduna State Government on various public sector initiatives.

With a nationwide network of point-of-sale terminals covering all 774 local government areas, Moniepoint said its infrastructure would help extend the reach of the NERSI intervention and make it easier for eligible beneficiaries to receive government support.

The bank’s participation underscores the growing role of digital financial service providers in delivering public welfare programmes and expanding financial inclusion across Nigeria.
