The move by the federal government through the Ministry of Finance to impose a 5 percent excise duty on telecommunications services has been suspended, a statement issued and signed by Mr. Reuben Mouka, Director of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission has disclosed. The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta has disclosed that Nigeria recorded over 50,000 cases of major destruction to telecom infrastructure and facilities in the past five years. A business-to-business payment platform, Duplo has raised $4.3 million in seed funding from seven venture capitals to launch new products and expand into new business verticals in Nigeria. The seven venture capital include Liquid2 Ventures, Soma Capital, Tribe Capital, Commerce Ventures, Basecamp Fund, Y Combinator and Oui Capital, who also re-invested after participating in the previous round.
