The global spending on asset tracking by enterprises will increase from $16 billion in 2022 to $45 billion in 2027, representing a substantial growth of 184%; a new study from Juniper Research has revealed. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami disclosed Nigeria has presently recorded over 85 million National Identification Numbers (NIN) across the industry. The Minister stated this when he met with the MTN Group Chairman, Mcebisi Jonas and President and CEO Ralph Mupita on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami has asserted that more than 90 percent of cyber breaches are caused largely to human error and social engineering. The Minister stated this at the Cyber Secure Nigeria Conference, organized by the Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) in Abuja earlier this week. “More than 90% of cyber breaches are a result of human error, social engineering, or other errors. A new sectoral report by Sophos Global Survey has revealed an increase in the 94percent of Ramsomware attacks on healthcare organisations. The report ‘The State of Ransomware in Healthcare 2022’ indicates that in 2021, 66% of healthcare organizations were hit; 34% were hit the previous year. The silver lining, however, is that healthcare organizations are getting better at dealing with the aftermath of ransomware attacks, according to the survey data. The report shows that 99% of those healthcare organizations hit by ransomware got at least some of their data back after cybercriminals encrypted it during the attacks. The Nigerian Communications Commission has today unveiled Reuben Muoka, an innovative journalist and consummate public relations practitioner, as its new Director of Public Affairs (DPA). Reunben will be taking over from Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, who has assumed duties as the Director of Special Duties Department of the Commission.
