Kaspersky, a Russian multinational cybersecurity and anti-virus provider has revealed that  it blocked 14 071 malware attacks in Nigeria in the last six moths, while Kenya (10 697), and South Africa (5 499) have malware attacks in same period. The Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that 80 percent of all financial crimes in Nigeria are cybercrime related, stressing that the rise in cybercrime activities in Nigeria is alarming and worrisome..
