  The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has asked MTN Nigeria to pay the revised N50, 000,000 (Fifty million Naira) Social Services Contribution Levy (SSCL) to the state revenue agency for the sake of what it considers national interest. The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr. Isa Pantami has explained how the local content development policy of the federal government has boosted sales for Original Equipment manufacturers in Nigeria. Pantami, who was speaking at a press conference in Abuja, disclosed that in accordance with the directive of the government on local content, Original Equipment Manufacturers sold 788,295 computer systems in five years.   Again, Nigeria’s telecom regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission is set to intervene in the base station imbrioglo between the Kogi State government and MTN Nigeria later this week. The Kogi State government had last week closed down several base stations belonging to MTN Nigeria, thereby disrupting telecom services in Lokoja, Obajana and other bordering communities.
