    CSEAN holds Cybersecurity Merit Awards on Friday in Lagos

    The Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) is set to hold the maiden edition of its Cybersecurity Merit Awards, where outstanding individuals and organizations who have made valuable contributions to the cybersecurity ecosystem in Nigeria will be recognised.

    The Cybersecurity Merit Awards is scheduled to hold on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja Lagos and awards will be given out in ten categories.

    The categories, according to Mrs. Oluwatoni Falade, Chairperson, Award Planning Committee are Rising Star of the year, Cyber Startup of the year, State Government of the year, Cybersecurity Woman of the year, Outstanding Individual of the year and University of the year.

    Others are MDA (Public Sector) of the year, Organization (Private Sector) of the year, Financial Institution of the year and Media House of the year.

    Mrs. Falade noted that the 2022 Cybersecurity Merit Awards is organized to recognize and reward outstanding individuals, teams, organizations, institutions and states that have over time demonstrated excellence, innovation and leadership within the cybersecurity industry.

    “This national award will tap into the vast experience of these professionals around the world to honor achievements and generate industry-wide recognition in every facet of information security development and awareness in Nigeria,” she said in a statement.

    She added that Award winners and finalists are selected primarily based on nominations, after which a shortlisting process is done and winners are decided by a team of esteemed judges based on the quality of nominees’ cyber security contributions accessible online.

    The panel of judges consists of a wide array of industry professionals with many years of experience. They include Chinenye Chizea, Consulting Security Architect, Nigeria Digital Identity for Development project, Abdul-hakeem Ajijola, Executive Chairman, Consultancy Support Services (CS2) Ltd, Tracy Z. Maleef, Security Researcher at Kiev’s Stamos Group, Chimaobi Ezeibe, partner at KPMG Canada and Dr Ifeoma Nwafor, legal partner at IEN Legal associates.

    CSEAN is a non-profit organization established as an advocacy group to galvanize the movement and development of Information Security best practices in Nigeria through a multi-stakeholder consortium at domestic and international levels.
