Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB), Nigeria’s premier provider of digital infrastructure and shared services, is revolutionizing access to advanced technology, making facilities once exclusive to global tech giants now available to both government institutions and private sector organizations across Nigeria.

This significant development was highlighted by Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone, during his keynote address at the 11th annual ICTEL Expo, hosted by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

Professor Adeyanju emphasized GBB’s unique mandate, seeing the organization as more than just a service provider, but a crucial nation-builder. He detailed how GBB operates Africa’s largest publicly owned Data Centre, certified by the Uptime Institute at Tier III and Tier IV levels. These certifications signify global benchmarks for resilience, sustainability, and reliability, ensuring that Nigerian entities can now leverage infrastructure on par with international standards.

“This infrastructure ensures that both government institutions and private sector organisations can now access facilities once exclusive to global technology giants,” Professor Adeyanju stated.

He further underscored the robustness of GBB’s infrastructure, which includes a 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC) and a cutting-edge Security Operations Centre (SOC). These facilities provide comprehensive cybersecurity services, encompassing threat intelligence, endpoint protection, and brand integrity monitoring, safeguarding vital digital assets.

Discussing the National Information Communication Technology Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB) project, Professor Adeyanju described it as one of the most ambitious digital connectivity investments in Nigeria’s history. To date, over 5,000 kilometers of fibre optic cable have been laid across 28 states, connecting state capitals, federal institutions, and MDAs. This expansive network provides scalable infrastructure for ICT companies and large enterprises. “But we are not just laying cables,” he added, “We are building the platform for digital governance and a truly connected economy.”

At its exhibition stand during the ICTEL Expo 2025, held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, GBB showcased its diverse portfolio of services tailored for both public and private sectors. The offerings emphasized solutions designed to support enterprise innovation, foster efficient governance, and drive national digital transformation.

Galaxy Backbone’s strong presence at ICTEL Expo 2025 reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to bolstering Nigeria’s digital economy through resilient, secure, and world-class ICT infrastructure. The company also reiterated its dedication to fostering partnerships that extend the benefits of technology to every corner of the nation.

The Expo itself opened with a call to action from Mr. Gabriel Idahosa, President and Chairman of Council of the LCCI, who commended industry stakeholders for their resilience. He noted that this year’s theme, “Leveraging Technology for Innovation and Development in Africa,” was both timely and vital for the continent’s sustainable growth.
