The air inside the Babcock University Centre for Executive Development (BCED) buzzed with focused energy. It wasn’t a typical classroom lecture; instead, over 50 students from diverse fields such as Computer Science, Business, and Information Technology were immersed in a hands-on, three-day workshop. They were the inaugural participants in the Young Creators Program, a new initiative born from a partnership between the global technology company Zoho and Babcock University.

The mission was clear: to empower these young minds with low-code application development skills using Zoho’s flagship platform, Zoho Creator.

“As part of our commitment to supporting local talent development in Nigeria, we are excited to collaborate with Babcock University to equip students with future-ready digital skills,” explained Kehinde Ogundare, Country Head, Zoho Nigeria. He emphasized that the goal was to empower young innovators to build solutions for real business challenges, thereby strengthening the local technology ecosystem.

Throughout the workshop, students dove into practical problem-solving. They learned to leverage the latest advancements in cloud technology to design and develop custom business solutions—all without needing advanced programming knowledge. The training demonstrated how low-code tools are crucial for driving entrepreneurship and digital transformation.

The university recognized the critical value of this practical exposure. Dr. Ayodeji Ajibade, Director of the Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre (BEDC), noted, “Partnering with Zoho strengthens our mission by providing students with access to industry-standard tools and practical learning experiences that bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application.”

This successful workshop marks the start of a much broader strategic collaboration between Zoho and BCED. Plans are underway for additional training programs, interactive workshops, and innovation-focused events. Critically, there are discussions to integrate Zoho’s apps into the BCED’s entrepreneurship curriculum, ensuring future students learn to apply these digital solutions to various business problems.

Through the Young Creators Program—part of Zoho’s global effort that has already trained over 2000 students worldwide since 2022—Babcock students are gaining the tools and confidence to pursue dynamic careers and entrepreneurial ventures in the technology space. They are now equipped not just with theoretical knowledge, but with the practical ability to become the next generation of digital solution builders.
