MTN Nigeria, has received a “B-” rating in Climate Change and a “C” rating in Water Security from the globally recognized Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). These scores highlight MTN Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to address environmental challenges and its commitment to transparently managing climate and water-related risks.

The CDP ratings also reflect MTN Nigeria’s dedication to enhancing its non-financial disclosures and sustainability reporting, demonstrating accountability and progress in its environmental performance.

“We are embedding ESG considerations at the core of our operations, in recognition of its critical role in driving long-term value creation for our stakeholders,” stated Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, MTN Nigeria.

He added: “Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our actions – from reducing energy consumption, improving energy efficiency, and increasing adoption of renewable energy. Also, through our Project Zero initiative, we are progressing in our commitment to reducing our GHG emissions and achieving net zero emissions by 2040. Being scored “B-” in climate change by CDP, a score in the “Management” band is a testament to the progress of our efforts.”

The CDP, a global non-profit organization, operates the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system. In 2024, over 24,800 of the world’s largest companies across more than 90 countries utilized the CDP’s comprehensive framework to measure, manage, and disclose their environmental impact, facilitating informed decision-making and promoting sustainable growth.

MTN Nigeria continues to emphasize its commitment to sustainability initiatives, aiming to create shared value for its stakeholders through responsible environmental, social, and governance practices and solutions. The company’s CDP ratings serve as a benchmark for its progress and a motivator for continued improvement in its environmental stewardship
