The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has vowed to proceed with the scheduled election into national offices on August 9, 2023, despite a court injunction that has been obtained by a member of the society restraining it to do so.
The President of Nigeria Computer Society, Prof. Adesina Sodiya stated this in an interview on the sideline of a press conference the society held in Lagos.
He said the election will come along with its annual International Conference on Communications and e-Systems for Economic Stability (CeSES 2023), which will start from Monday, 7th to 10th of August 2023, in Bauchi, Nigeria.
“On the issue of our member who has gone to court to stop the election, the issue is receiving attention and the election will go on smoothly,” he said.
Mr. Rogba Adeoye, a member of NCS had in an Ex Parte order dated and filed on July 17, 2023, at the Federal High Court in Lagos, sought an interlocutory injunction restraining the Nigeria Computer Society, Prof. Adesina Sodiya, Mr. Segun Adekunle and Olufemi Williams or anyone claiming authority through them from proceeding to hold the national Executive Council Election slated for August 9, 2023, pending the determination of the originating summons.
Suit No: FHC/L/CS/1268/2023 is adjourned to November 22, 2023, for report or service.
This has led to the suspension of key members of the society, Immediate Past President of NCS Professor Sola Aderounmu and Former President of NCS Lagos Chapter Mr Rogba Adeoye.
