This year’s Data Center and Cloud Technology breakfast meeting will bring together DSOs, CIOs, CTOs, and data scientists to properly engage and facilitate policy that will truly see Data Centre and Cloud Technology as the backbone of the digital economy. The organizer of the meeting, Centre for Cyber Awareness and Development (CECAD) has announced.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, one of the Coordinator of CECAD, Mr. Hilary Damissah, noted that the essence of the breakfast meeting is for businesses to see the need to leverage the internet to collect data and store at a data center or in the cloud, saying, globally, both systems have been acknowledged as instrumental to economic growth and expansión.

“The role of data centers and Cloud Technology must be acknowledged if Nigeria must make progress in the ongoing fourth Industrial revolution. How our data is collected, used and stored must be enhanced, secured and sustained,” he said.

Hilary added that, in order to avoid a digital colonisation of Nigeria, our data must be integrated and anchored on Nigerian soil, so we must do all we can to support this. “The questions we’ll be looking at include: the challenges facing players in the space, what are the possible solutions? What are the future business opportunities in cloud and data centers?” He added.

Speaking further, Hilary lamented that Data and Cloud that is powering the growth of the Nigerian digital economy has not been properly engaged and facilitated in terms of policy making in Nigeria. This, he noted has led to issues and challenges being unresolved and sometimes unknown.

The Centre for Cyber Awareness and Development (CECAD) is Nigeria’s leading digital advocacy organization. The meeting is tagged: The Nigerian Data Economy in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and will hold on Monday the 29th of April 2019 at Oriental Hotels, Lekki by 8am prompt.

Major players in the Data and Cloud sector like Rack Center, Medallion Communications, Galaxy Backbone, MdXi, Interconnect Clearing House, Nigeria Communication Commission, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), and more will be present  to network and brainstorm, under a relaxed atmosphere and a sumptuous breakfast.
