Healthtech company, Field has announced the launch of a groundbreaking initiative to tackle the urgent crisis of maternal mortality, newborn and child health, and nutrition across the continent.

With support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Field will leverage its proprietary technology, distribution network, and financing services to introduce emerging therapies and supply chain transformation. The company’s goal is to accelerate access to life-saving interventions and improve healthcare outcomes for millions of Africans.

Field’s initiative will focus on empowering healthcare providers, both public and private, with the tools and resources they need to deliver high-quality care. This includes digitization, financing options, last-mile delivery, and the establishment of a coalition of key stakeholders.

Maternal mortality is a pressing healthcare challenge in Africa, with the continent accounting for 69% of global maternal deaths. Field’s service will provide expectant mothers with access to emerging therapies like heat-stable carbetocin and calibrated drapes, which can help prevent postpartum hemorrhage, the leading cause of maternal mortality.

Michael Moreland, CEO & Founder of Field, emphasized the importance of technology-powered public health solutions. “This initiative is a testament to our commitment to improving access to quality healthcare in Africa,” he said. “By leveraging technology and partnering with key stakeholders, we can make a significant impact on maternal and child health.”

Field’s initiative aligns with the company’s broader mission to revolutionize healthcare delivery in Africa. Through its distribution platform, Shelf Life, Field is already providing essential medicines and supplies to healthcare providers across the continent.

With the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and its own innovative approach, Field is poised to make a lasting impact on the lives of millions of Africans.
