The Solution Innovation District (SID) of Anambra State, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia’s Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company (DTVC) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster collaboration in research, innovation, and technology commercialization.

Signed during a high-level innovation summit in Beijing, this strategic alliance aims to accelerate innovation-driven economic growth across Africa and the Middle East.

The partnership focuses on five primary pillars designed to bridge the gap between laboratory research and market success. Both parties will launch joint startup and venture acceleration programs targeting energy, sustainability, and emerging technologies. They will also develop frameworks for co-investing in high-potential startups and transformative innovations. To drive research and development, the organizations will facilitate the exchange of expertise and industry best practices. Additionally, they will establish networking platforms to connect investors, researchers, and industry leaders. Finally, the partnership includes co-hosting international summits and workshops to foster global innovation linkages.

Chinwe Okoli, CEO of SID and Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State, described the agreement as a major milestone. “Our partnership with DTVC reflects SID’s commitment to building international linkages that accelerate technology development. We are opening new doors for startups and researchers to co-create solutions that address global challenges while driving inclusive growth.”

Mohammed Abusharifah, CEO of DTVC, highlighted the synergy between the two regions, noting that the agreement advances DTVC’s mission to bridge world-class research with entrepreneurial spirit.

“Our partnership with SID will create a bridge for an increased flow of talent, expertise, and investments between our two innovation hubs,” Abusharifah said.

This MoU underscores a shared vision to foster innovation ecosystems that benefit local communities while contributing to the global knowledge economy. By aligning the resources of Anambra State with the technological infrastructure of Saudi Arabia, both parties are positioned to scale solutions with significant global impact.
