The Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), is set to host stakeholder to what it tags ‘Post-Nigeria National Broadband Plan 2013-2018’ on the 7th of February 2019 in Abuja.

The theme of the forum is “the Nigeria National Broadband Plan 2013 – 2018: Success, Prospects and Challenges”.

According to a statement in Lagos by ATCON’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Ajibola Olude, the purpose of the forum is to principally see how the entire industry (Telecoms/ICT) could work towards achieving a greater broadband penetration in the next five years.

“No doubt the National Broadband Plan has helped all stakeholders to have a focus as to what to be done to participate fully in deepening the broadband penetration which target then was 30 percent. With the envisaged stable political environment, partnership and collaboration amongst critical stakeholders, we can safely say that the broadband penetration in the next five years would be 70 percent,” the statement reads.

Keynote speakers for the parley, which is strictly by invitation include Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Communications;  Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman, NCC and Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Director General of NITDA.

The Broadband Plan 2013-2018 will be reviewed by Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, Chairman, OpenMedia and Mr. Osondu Nwokoro, MD/CEO, Steven Allen Associates.

There will be four Panel Sessions: they are Broadband and its benefits/ Where we are with Broadband; The Challenges of Broadband Operators/Strategy and Roadmap goals and objectives/Roles for government and other stakeholders; Roles for government and other stakeholders/Policy and Regulatory Priorities/Adoption and Utilization and Adoption and Utilization /Local Content Imperative.
