The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) yesterday in a statement said it has directed all mobile network operators in Nigeria to implement the harmonized shortcodes for telecom services starting May 17, 2023. In the statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Reuben Mouka, noted that the use of harmonised shortcodes is aimed at achieving uniformity in common short codes across networks. A directive has been issued to all mobile network operators (MNOs) to fully migrate from hitherto diverse shortcodes for providing certain services to telecom consumers in Nigeria to the harmonized shortcodes effective May 17, 2023.
