Ride-hailing platform Bolt has expressed deep concern over the assault of one of its drivers, Stephen Abuwatseya, by a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Alex Ikwechegh.

In a response to Technext’s inquiries, Bolt condemned the incident and assured that it is taking the matter seriously. The company is actively investigating the situation and providing support to the affected driver.

The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, was captured on video and shared widely on social media. The video shows the lawmaker verbally abusing and physically assaulting the driver.

Bolt has reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of both its drivers and passengers, and will continue to work towards creating a secure and respectful environment for all users.
