    Medallion rated most Interconnected Data Centre in West Africa

    Communication Week Media, the organizer of this year’s Beacon of Information and Communications Technology Awards has rated Medallion Data Centres Limited (MDCL) as the Most Interconnected Data centre of the year 2022 in West Africa.

    According to the organizer, MDCL presently is the number one go-to facility for a fast, efficient and cost-effective data centre that renders connectivity services when the time to market and affordability is essential.

    “As we speak, MDCL is the most connected data centre facility in West Africa as it is a chosen hosting company of choice for the major value-added service providers and premium rated operators in Nigeria and international companies seeking to do business in Nigeria,” it announced while handling an award plague to the Chief Executive Officer of MDCL, Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani.

    Responding, and elated Engr. Nnamani, who is also the President of the Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), noted that the rating is coming at a time when data is seen as the new crude oil.

    He disclosed that MDCL, which is now part of the Digital Realty Group of Companies, the largest global provider of cloud and carrier-neutral data centers, is the number one peering point connecting the sub-region to the rest of the world.

    According to him, over 80 percent of all Internet traffic exchanged at the Nigerian Internet Exchange takes place at Medallion’s datacenter, adding that no other facility has the same concentration of operational international submarine operators.

    He also disclosed that Medallion is currently implementing a series of world-class data centres within Nigeria and across the West Africa region that will boost the digital economy drive, create jobs, and enable localization of contents by hyper scale digital infrastructure providers, which will ultimately ensure foreign direct investment into the local economy.
