Mr. Balarabe Shehu Ilelah has been appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the new Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), replacing Prof. Armstrong ldachaba, who has been holding the office in acting capacity in the last two years.

In a statement to announce his appointment, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, described Ilelah as a veteran broadcaster. He said Mr. Ilelah’s appointment is for a tenure of five years in the first instance.

Ilelah’s appointment is coming a few days after  Prof Armstrong ldachaba in his acting capacity directed all Broadcasting Stations in Nigeria to suspend the patronage of Twitter immediately.
