    NCC Tennis Cup final: Team Civil Defence carts home N7M grand prize

    Team Civil Defence has won this year’s final of the Nigerian Communications Commission Tennis Cup, going home with the N7 million grand prize.

    The final, which was played at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Team Civil Defence, seen as veterans in the NCC Tennis League, defeating Team Muller 4-0 to emerge the Winner. While Team Muller, the runner-up won N5 Million, Team Offikwu which came third got N3 Million prize; and Team Ndoma Egba, that won the fourth place left with N2 Million.

    The final was the climax of the sequence of matches constitutive of the 2017 NCC Tennis Tournament. It was tough, but exciting sessions.

    Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, who was represented by Director of Research and Development, Iyabode Sholanke expressed the Commission’s appreciation to all those who participated in the tournament or collaborate with NCC in its determination to revive the passion for tennis in the Nigerian Youth.

    She urged all stakeholders to also partner with the Commission to address the challenges in telecommunication sector, especially to improve the quality of the consumer experience because the telecom consumer is the lifeblood of the industry.

    Also speaking at the event, the President of the International Tennis Academy, Godwin Kienka, thanked the NCC for its continuous support of Tennis championships nationwide and challenged other organizations to follow in the NCC’s footsteps to restore the nation’s sporting glory.
