Nestlé Nigeria has once again demonstrated its commitment to empowering young Nigerians by opening the application portal for its annual scholarship program. This initiative aims to support high-achieving secondary and tertiary students pursuing studies in Science and Technology, particularly those from communities surrounding Nestlé’s operations.

Since its inception in 2020, the Community Scholarship Program has provided financial aid to deserving students, covering tuition fees, accommodation, uniforms, books, and other essential expenses. This year, 90 talented students will receive a total of N18 million in grants.

Victoria Uwadoka, Nestlé Nigeria’s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead, highlighted the company’s dedication to creating shared value. She emphasized the importance of investing in education to foster the growth and prosperity of communities. “By empowering young minds, we’re not only shaping individual futures but also contributing to the development of our nation,” she said.

The recent award ceremony celebrated the 2023/2024 scholarship recipients, with 65 students from Abaji, Agbara, and Sagamu receiving their awards. Adeyemi Gbenga Daniel, a tertiary beneficiary studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos, expressed gratitude for the scholarship, stating, “It empowers us to pursue our dreams and explore opportunities that might have been out of reach.”

Traditional leaders from the recipient communities also commended Nestlé Nigeria for its commitment to community development. They acknowledged the positive impact of the scholarship program and pledged their continued support for Nestlé’s operations.

As the scholarship program continues to grow, Nestlé Nigeria remains dedicated to nurturing talent and shaping a brighter future for Nigeria’s youth. By investing in education, the company aims to create a sustainable impact on its host communities and contribute to the nation’s overall development.
