Reliance Infosystem Group’s CSR arm, PlungeSmile Foundation, has set an ambitious goal of reaching one million underprivileged children across Africa within the next five years. The foundation, celebrating its 20th anniversary, is seeking corporate partnerships to support its mission of providing education and empowerment to young people.
Group Managing Director of Reliance Infosystems, Olayemi Popoola, emphasized the importance of investing in the next generation. “We believe that these children are the leaders of tomorrow,” he said. “Our goal is to give them the opportunities they need to succeed.”
PlungeSmile Foundation has a 50-year vision to impact 30 million students across the continent. Currently, the foundation feeds 1,000 students daily and operates in a few schools. It aims to expand its reach with the help of corporate sponsors and individuals.
“We are building our first model in Kwara State and focusing on public schools where the impact will be felt most,” Popoola explained. “We invite corporate bodies and well-meaning Nigerians to join us in this endeavor.”
PlungeSmile Foundation offers a range of programs, including school feeding, clothing provision, and audiovisual learning. These initiatives align with the Renewed Hope agenda of the Nigerian government.
Andy Eberechukwu Akukwe, Vice President of PlungeSmile Foundation, highlighted the transformative impact of the organization’s work. “We have seen countless lives changed through our programs,” he said. “Many of our beneficiaries are now successful graduates who are even supporting our cause.”
